Relative Directions by Janine Rewell

One of my favourite graphic designers (and illustrators) is the Helsinki-based Janine Rewell, who has the most amazing portfolio in both graphic design and illustration. I've been looking at her project "Relative Dirctions" for quite som time now, and finally thougt I'd share it with you guys! "RELATIVE DIRECTIONS and the geometry of natural enviroment" is an art book that discusses the way people experience up/down, left/right, forward/backward. Make sure to have a look at her portfolio too - personally I really like her graphic design projects...
Enjoy and have a good friday!

THE BOOKSHELF - Papercraft

I have an addiction to books and magazines, and why not share some of my favorites with you. From now on I will have a category called "The Bookshelf" with recommendations of some of my favorite books.

The first book I will recommend is also the newest one in my bookshelf - "Papercraft - design and art with paper" published by Gestalten. Sooo inspiring...
"Papercraft is an extensive survey on the insatiable trend of innovative art and design work crafted from paper. It explores the astounding possibilities of paper and gathers the most extraordinary creations – from small objects and figures to large-scale art installations and urban interventions as well as three-dimensional graphic sculptures from a vast spectrum of artistic disciplines ranging from character design, urban art, fine art, graphic design, illustration, fashion, animation and film. The book also includes a DVD with fun DIY printable templates for creating your own paper characters and toys as well as a curated selection of the best stop-motion animations."

Mediterra Food Basket by Sheldon Hui

I really like packaging design and came across Sheldon Hui's "Mediterra Food Basket"-project – a food basket featuring various Mediterranean cuisine. To display the array of cultures, the food items were laid out in respect to their geographical origins. The names of each region and province is set into a typographic map. Kähler USB key

I just discovered these amazing ceramic USB keys from the danish brand Kähler, designed by the Spanish ceramist Helena Rohner. The USB key is disguised as a necklace with a ceramic pendant. The price is DKK 399,-.
Personally I love the idea of having your USB close when needed, and like the Yellow or the Magnolia-Pink round one and since I’m always in lack of space on my USB keys, this will be a reasonable buy. At least I'll keep telling myself that... Check them out here: Kählerdesign.dk
