99% - It's not about ideas. It's about making ideas happen.
I often visit "the99percent" (99%) website to read great articles about creativity, inspiration and so on, and would really recommend this site. The "99%" is Behance’s research arm and think tank. Taking its name from Thomas Edison’s famous quote that “genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration,” the 99% includes a daily web magazine, an annual conference, and the best-selling book "Making Ideas Happen."
Through articles, tips, videos, and events, they share best practices that help creative professionals move beyond idea generation into idea execution.
The latest article I read was about "Getting Creative Things Done: How To Fit Hard Thinking Into a Busy Schedule" - a simple system for balancing meaningful creative work with a busy workschedule. Read the article HERE - and make sure to check out some of their other great articles while your there ("Tips")!Wednesday, 24 November 2010
FERM sewing kit sticker on my own VW Beetle?
I came across danish firm "Ferm living" who make cute wallpaper, wallstickers and various accesories to the home, and stumbled upon the "Sewing kit" sticker which I find so funny! I probably wouldn't put it on the wall at home – but since I'm the happy owner of a VW Beetle from 1967 in a creamy color (even though it's a bit rusty after 6 years under my care), I might consider doing the same as on the picture below, just for fun...

Wine label inspiration - black/white
I've just got the assignment to create a label for a wine bottle and although I have an idea of how the design is going to look, I always seek inspiration before getting started. As you can see beneath I've been especially aware of the black/white illustrative labels – as I think this is the expression I'm going for myself...

SABA by CreativeInc
Apparently I have a thing for pink these days, but I really like the identity design and overall visual expression developed for "Saba to Go" – a Thai & Vietnamese foodstore/takeout in Dublin, made by CreativeInc. I would love to walk through that hot pink entrance, that's for sure! Via Graphic Exchange.

Stupid Studio
I just recently came across danish studio "Stupid Studio" and I really like a lot of their projects.
In particular I really like the campaign "Kina i Odense"(China in Odense) - celebrating Odense's participation in the EXPO2010 in China. Stupid Studio created the identity inspired by the Chinese Dragon in line with the pink color and official identity of Odense.

Oh Wow Book Club NYC
I really like the mix of pastels and blacks in the very different, yet inspiring interior design of the OHWOW Book Club store who have opened the doors to a tiny 150 square-foot space in New York’s Greenwich Village - and since I love books I might drop by on my next trip to NYC.

Dedicated to my sister, Josephine
Today I'll post yet another quote and dedicate it to my wonderful sister Josephine. Today is a special day for her and I hope she will appreciate a little "support" from home to make her remember just how amazing and talented she is! She believed she could - so she did!!

TYPODARIUM 2011 - DAILY DOSE OF TYPE
Earlier on I've made a post about Typeface Memory Game, but now I think I've just discovered a new and better gift for any type-lover out there: a type calender for year 2011: a daily typographic inspiration from the "Typodarium", the first tear-off calendar with 365 different fonts. Bread-and-butter types and typographical baubles, character sets and punctuation marks, old masters and wild youths, favourite fonts from all over the world. The date – traditional and functional – is on the front page and on the back are background information and details, designers and sources – and even a marriage proposal! This calendar makes every day a typographical day and some calendar pages a font-shopping list. Learn more here.
