London illustrations by Ingrid Trollope
I just got back to Copenhagen yesterday, after 5 great days in London visiting good friends. Copenhagen is covered in snow and even though London was kind of rainy, it still was so much warmer in so many ways. It was my first time to visit London in 10 years, and even though I didn't really got to go and do the tourist-thing it was still nice to visit another city and have a break from work (kind off). So, on this occasion, todays post features some great and feminine editorial illustrations of London by Ingrid Trollope. I came across the editorial some some years ago, and really like the light pastel colors and the simple collage-expression – there's almost a romantic feel to it!

Sunday wisdom
A little text I found at the blog of Emilie Karlbom, to remind you that life doesn't have to be so serious, perfect or figured out – and that the people who make the most mistakes, often are the most interesting! (Maybe it's for the best if I don't take the advice "spend all your cash"too literally, though!) Have a nice sunday!

Mangoola invite by End of Work
It's been a while since I've posted anything graphic design related – but I came across this beautiful invite made for Mangoola Coal by Australian design studio "End of Work" and I simply find it so stunning! No more words needed!

Snaps from my dining room
Today I visited the Playtype Concept Store at Vesterbro in Copenhagen to buy two of their "type" posters from one of their earlier collections. I have a thing for typography (obviously) and think they fit into my dining room just perfect. The new posters also lead to a little re-arrangement of the "setup" on the cabinet just under the posters! Have a look! And have a nice day!
Picture of my dining room. Posters from Playtype.
Candlelight Kubus from bylassen, and book with projects from one of my favorite
installationartists icelandic/danish Olafur Eliasson. The cut letter in the back is a
prototype made for a project.

Art and illustration on a budget
If you, like myself, like to have beautiful art and illustrations on your walls, you also know that it can be very pricy. I own a few originals and lithographs myself, but sometimes it's also nice to have something more temporary you can change if you want to, without the costs being too high. Not all artists or illustrators work is to be found as posters, but if you keep an eye on some of the small niche-magazines, you may stumble upon some great work. Just a few years ago I would never dream of cutting out pages in my magazines, but that's changed.
A few days ago I was looking at magazines in my favorite magazine-derpartment, and the new danish magazine Tomorrows Journal had a nice article with danish artist/fashion designer Anne Sofie Madsen, who also makes the most beautiful illustrations in nice colors. So when I saw that the article also featured some of her work (and even without text) I decided to buy the magazine to use the pages to hang on my walls. So the tip is hereby given to you.
The steps are really simple and all you need is a ruler, a knife and a frame!
(and if your quick, you might still be able to find the magazine with the beautiful Anne Sofie Madsen illustrations)

Meanwhile, since it IS my birthday, I took the time to take a little photo and post (you can also follow me on instagram - kberggreen) of a B-letter I have at home.. B for birthday... Hay strap mirror – my hallway
So, I'm still super busy, but took the time during christmas and painted a wall in my hallway in my favorite grey color and bought the lovely Hay strap mirror that I've been wanting for so long.. I'll take some better photos sometime, but until then, this is a little sneak-peak!

Daniel Rybakken – poet of light
They call him the poet of light (lyspoeten) – Norwegian designer (and in my opinion artist) – Daniel Rybakken. I've been wanting to share these pictures since I came across some of his work some months ago, but now is the time. The work of Daniel is amazing and alluring, and I like how his work and universe – in the field between art and design – is so elegant yet very simple in it's original idea. Daniel is focusing on artificially reproducing something as basic as daylight – and the result is strikingly beautiful – almost poetic, and I agree with his given title. Finally, I'm totally in love with the colors and minimalistic feel in the pictures below, almost make me want to live just as minimalistic as this (okay, I said almost!) Oh, and his workspace on the final picture is just as lovely as his work!

Merry christmas! I've never been busier than I've been for the last month, and therefore haven't made any posts for a whole month! Wow time has passed by so fast I can't even believe it! Christmas to me means a few days of holiday, but I promise I'll be back – hopefully rested and with new found inspiration for the new year! Meanwhile – Happy holidays!
